What Causes Hot And Cold Flushes Subsequently?

I'm at home sick today. I woke up to find my bed and all my clothes were soaking wet...after taking a shower and laying on the couch, all the sudden a heat wave goes through my whole body and I throw off the covers and roll up my clothes but then within seconds I have goosebumps and curl up under the blankets again...is this just a fever?
