What Causes Hot Flashes After Withdrawing From Estradiol?

I had hysterectomy 35 years ago and recommendation to stop the estradiol 2 months ago. Now I have hot flashes 6-8 times a day and also @ night. My skin flushes and it lasts 2-3 minutes. It seems after I wake up the first one happens and after eating anything happens again. Is this associated with stopping medication or is it another medical condition?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is clearly associated with stopping of estrogen. It mimics natural menopause symptoms.
You should have stopped it gradually.
You can use some food that contain natural estrogen to substitute it ,like
flaxseed, sesame seeds
soy products jogurt, tofu
legumes, lentils, beans
strawberry, peaches, dry fruit
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
