What Causes Hot Flashes And Irregular Vaginal Spotting?

I am 45 and experiencing odd symptoms that I am not sure could be perimenopause or may be more serious. I have been having hot flashes and bleeding like a light period for 3 weeks now. I had a regular period 3 weeks prior and my cycles are still regular and they always have been. I have no pain or anything and I am not pregnant and have not had an sexual partners in over twenty years so I do not know what to make of this but would like to not have to wear a pad 24/7.
