What Causes Hot Flashes And Joint Pain While On Letrozole?
Hi....I had surgery on August 31 2017 and my oncologist started me on letrozole,2.5. I am having terrible hot flashes, joint pain and hallucinations. My breast that I had the surgery on is very hot and red. Where I had the surgery I have to travel a great distance in order to be seen in urgent care. Can you give me some feedback on the medication. Thank you Email address: YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The hot flashes, warmth in chest and face are less serious side effects of Letrozole. Try not to dress in layers, use of cotton clothing and bedding, strategic placement of electric fans, and the carrying of cold drinks. Reusable cooling bandanas containing polymer crystals may be helpful. They can be soaked in cold water for 10–30 minutes and tied around the neck for a long-lasting cooling effect. Hallucinations are not common for Letrozole. They are very serious side effects and you should check other medications you are taking.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
