What Causes Hot Flashes, Tiredness And Elevated Heart Rate In An Elderly Person?
I am 56 having major hot flashes, having some memory things like spelling, not remembering things, tired, I use to run 5 to 6 miles in oct sprained my ankle, now when I run downstairs my chest starts pounding like crazy....lots of nerve issues...is this all menapause
Menopause can be associated with hot flashes but should not cause a significant decline in memory or cognition. There can be small memory changes but if it is very pronounced then other causes should be ruled out.
It is can sometimes also be associated with palpitations but again other causes are also considered as well such as thyroid disease, anemia or intrinsic heart disease. An ECG and blood tests (thyroid function tests and full blood count) would be helpful.
You should consider seeing your doctor for an assessment.
I hope this helps
