What Causes Hot Flashes While Suffering From Diabetes?

My girlfriend is 38 years old and has been diabetic almost all her life. She has been well controlled with blood sugars around 104ish on Insulin. She recently has been getting what she calls hot flashes . She feels extremely warm and her heart rate has been elevated. Her Dr. didn t think she was starting menopause but wanted to check her thyroid levels which he said were low. She has not been losing weight lately but gaining. I am concerned that she may be having a thyroid storm but all of the symptoms don t quite fit. What could this be?

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

This can be the perimenopausal stage . in some women menopause can come early, I think she will enter menopause in her early 40’s that’s why she is experiencing these symptoms as hyperthyroidism can’t cause hot flushes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
