What Causes Hot Flashes With Loss Of Balance And Dizziness?

I am 77 years old, I am having trouble with an over heating body, like hot flashes, which leaves me feeling light headed, and unbalanced, some times giddy for a short minute or two. I had a hip revision 2 years ago and a hip replacement just over a year ago, could it be that the epidural I had is now starting to effect me, as it appears to be affecting my neck and shoulder area. Or could it be an Adrenal , a hormonal imbalance, or liver problem. I have booked in to a naturpath next week, what do you think the problem may be. I have been experiencing a little tummy trouble with wind during the night and loose bowel movements today the bowel movements has been a lot better. Yours faithfully Sydney Hyam

Hello,

Hot flashes associated with dizziness and loss of balance are symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Do not do any heavy work or drive. Stay at rest. You can take a course of Vertin-16 after getting clinically examined by a GP. Take healthy diet, stay hydrated to help maintain a normal electrolyte system. Your vitals should be normal, low BP or low blood glucose triggers such symptoms. Sometimes, epidural damages nerve and may cause neck and shoulder pain n long run. Exercises, heat or cold compression may help.

Get X-ray done to rule out any pathology that may cause you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly. Take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 or supplements for nerve repair. You can take acetaminophen to ease neck and shoulder pain. Take antacids to avoid acid reflux. Stay well hydrated to avoid constipation. It is good to know that you have booked to get naturopath treatment . Get treated at the earliest. Stay away from addictions if any and avoid stressful lifestyle.
