What Causes Hot Flushes And Headaches While On Duphaston And Vagifem?
Hi, I am 50yrs old, had infertility problems from age 28 & eventually through IVF was blessed with a baby at age 40. I went into full menopause 6weeks after his birth. Libido went out the window, changed 3 Gynaecologists & tried several alternative herbal options as I m Epileptic & my choices were limited following grand mal seizures in 2010. My husband left me 19months ago after 23yrs of marriage & a main factor was lack of sex. I am so self conscious now of this problem that I want to see if there is another product out there that can help. I ve recently gone to a new Gynaecologist who recommended Duphaston for 14 days then 14 day interval + Vagifem tablets inserted vaginally for 28 days. I have just taken my 14 day dose & after the first week of taking both of the above I have experienced hot flushes day & night but not all the time, headaches once a day & I seem to be picking up weight. Is this normal? Tx, Sandy

Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. I see that you are taking decrease sex as a sequel of menopause ... & trying to overcome the effects of deficient hormones to fulfill so called deficit in your personality... & are depressed due to the change. The weight gain, head ache, hot flushes are side effects of hormones. They need to be nullified with life style changes & good habits. Hormone replacement therapy can be given to reduce symptoms of menopause/ get strong bones/ Have maintained feminine looks & muscles. So many doctors advocate hormone replacement therapy. Of course it stands few bad effects .. like more incidence of ovarian or breast cancer....for which one has to be on guard with regular medical check up & cancer detection tests. In my view graceful acceptance of the change & enjoy life with enthusiasm( getting off from sexual & physical pleasures & taking more interest in social benefit & spiritual attainment ) along with getting hormone replacement therapy for it's good effects & be aware of bad effects is a sign of ideal aging. Thanks.
