What Causes Hot Flushes While On Lupron Depot Injections?

hi, I am currently being treated with injections of 3.75 mg of Lupron Depot every 4 weeks for 6 weeks. I have had 3 injections so far. Among the side effects, my worst is the hot flashes, sometimes 15 times a day :(. My doctor intends to do a hysterectomy after my last dose. I have recently started taking a herbal Sage supplement to help relieve the hot flashes. I also have an chronic autoimmune blood disorder called ITP. I am following a strict diet to avoid taking medications for ITP and am taking supplements to boost my platelets and support my diet ( I m following the Eat Right for Your Blood Type O diet) including Calcium, K2, folic acid, Cod liver oil, Herring oil and Papaya leaf extract. My question is, are all of these supplements that I am taking safe in combination with the Lupron injections?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The narrated supplements are of herb origin with natural elements of the need of the body that are not going to interact with the current therapy of Lupron depot injection. It is the basic effect of Leuprolide is gonadotropin releasing hormone antagonist action at hypothalamus pituitary axis and the hot flushes are secondary to that only. Kindly discuss the management of hot flushes with your doctor before deciding for any further alteration in the therapy.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
