What Causes Hyperpigmentation And Excessive Dry Skin After Using Lemon Toner?

I am very concerned about my condition as of right now. Last November, I began to use a lemon toner that contained AHA s and DAME. I only used it for a month and noticed that my skin was getting darker and very dry. I stopped using it immediately. Even after I stopped the usage I broke out in cyst acne, scabs, I also kept getting darker even when I stayed in the house or use sun screen. I am out of All options. My skin looks horrible. I have hyperpigmentation, many scabs and dark marks and my skin is extremely 10 times darker. It is summer time where I am, I can t go outside at all. Is there something wrong with me? What can I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Either citric acid-induced epithelial damage or increased melanin levels via damage to epidermis layer.

* My guidelines at present
- keep the area clean with sterile water
- apply aloe vera cream 3 times a day
- consult your dermatologist for further course of action which may require hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy or else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
