What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

i am 21 years old female......My face and neck are significantly darker than the rest of my body. People can easily see the significant contrast of skin color between face and arms.Is this what is called hyperpigmentation or something else ?Is it possible to lighten my face to the natural color of the rest of my body ?If so, then what are the best products ?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Your main concern is tanning. UV A part of the electromagnetic spectrum is mainly responsible for tanning.
Sunscreen is an essential part in the management of tanning.
I would suggest you to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day.
It should have both UV A as well as UV B coverage. Reapply every 2-3 hours.
A broad spectrum sunscreen that has a minimum spf of 30, would be suitable.
You may find one such sunscreen OTC from a drug store Or you may also get it prescribed from a dermatologist.
At night you may use a cream, containing one or more of the following active ingredients e.g Azaleic acid, Hydroquinone, Kojic acid, Arbutin, Glycolic acid, licorice extract, Niacinamide, Vit C etc.
These creams are prescription products and therefore I would suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region.
Along with the creams, you may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling from your dermatologist. Retises CT peel is particularly suitable for tanning and skin lightening.
