What Causes Hypertension And Shortness Of Breath?

I am currently taking Enalapril 20 mg bid, amlodapine 5mg bid and metropolol 25 mg bid for high blood pressure. My pressure continues to run about 150-160/80s Since I have been on all these medications (they have been added gradually over the last 2 months)I am experiencing shortness of breath with minimal exertion and my heart rate increases to 110 or thereabouts. I am extremely tired and sleepy all of the time. I am also having frequent headaches. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern
You are taking two drugs to control your BP 150-60/ 80 is not very high blood pressure..so don't worry.
Out of the drugs Metropolol - has chances of giving short breath .. as a side effect.
* You should discuss this with your treating doctor, he will either change the drug or change it's dose.. for relieving you.
Having blood pressure , it's also advisable to get your heart check up while you meet the doctor, in order to exclude certain possibilities of heart affection with short breath.
Thanks.
