What Causes Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy When Diagnosed With Lupus?

Hi, I have already been diagnosed with HCM in June of 2014. This month I had an ANA test done and it came back 1:640 so my doctor ordered a anti ro antibody which came back at 202.19. Apparently my body is attacking itself and I am going to see a rheumatologist, but what does this mean for my heart disease?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be seen in congenital or sporadic or autosomal dominant or concentric hypertrophy in hypertension. It may cause angina , arrythmia or sudden cardiac death. Auto immune disease also may affect heart but less likely to cause Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Please consult your rheumatologist/cardiologist they will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
