What Causes Hypoglycemic Symptoms In A Diabetic Patient?

My brother is diabetic he was low in sugar the other day and his hands were shaking and he couldnt answer questions like he was drunk. He also had this in the evening. I worry about him he just drank orange juice. But is this a sign he is having problems controlling his condition or just normal.

Hypoglycemia is a common occurrence in diabetics, and occurs due to low sugar level in blood (usuallySome drugs are known to cause hypoglycemia (sulfonylureas- Glimeperide, Gliclazide and Insulin), whereas drugs like metformin and DPPIV inhibitors are relatively safe. Usually hypoglycemia arises out of drug-diet imbalance (medications taken without eating proper meals) or drug-exercise imbalance (too much of exercise). It is also important to rule out any form of over-treatment (more medications/dose than that required for optimum sugar control).
I would also suggest you to get his renal function test done (serum urea, creatinine), since he is a diabetic. Deranged renal function may also cause hypoglycemia.
Please visit a Physician as soon as possible. Hypoglycemic attacks are not desirable and a drug and life-style review is needed. Please ask you brother to keep some glucose biscuits with him (needed in hypoglycemic attack).
