What Causes Immediate Cold When Exposed To Breeze?

I have a unique and disturbing inquiry about myself. I get colds extremely easily; going outside without a hat, or my neck being exposed to a breeze, summer or winter. I ve been to many doctors about it; gp, eyes nose throat, naturalpaths, etc. I can be outside for under a 30 seconds, no exaggeration, and start to sniffle within the hr. i m very sensitive of to cold/breeze while everyone else around me thinks i m crazy for wearing a hood when it s 9 degrees Celcius, for instance. One doctor has told me that my left side of my sinus swells easily. Whenever my immune system, or my respiratory system, has been checked out, everything has come back as normal. I generally take zinc or oil of oregano at the onset of the cold, and it usually knocks it right out. Reactive rhinitis? perennial allergy? Something else?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The cause is very obvious. Your nasal mucosa is very sensitive to cold and such changes and simply hyper-reaction to certain things. I do not think it is related to allergy or so. I would advise you the following:
- Gradual conditioning of your nasal and respiratory mucosa to cold and weather changes can help you a lot.
- Medicines such as decongestants oral and topical can be tried.
- Oral and nasal steroids also may be tried.

But it is ultimately the conditioning that can help you the most. Control of stress and anxiety can help a lot if this is due to vaso-motor rhinitis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
