What Causes Increased Blood Pressure After Taking ConcorAM?

My mother 85 years old has switched from other high blood pressure medicines (Adalat Oros 20 mg and Tenormin 50 mg) to Concor AM 5 mg two days ago. She is taking 1/2 Concor AM (so it would be 2.5 mg) every night. Her blood pressure is still high. 150/63. In the morning she has started taking Higroton 1/2 a tablet. I expected with these two tablets her blood pressure would come down, but it hasnot happened yet. I wonder how long it will take for her high blood pressure to come down a bit more? Or perhaps she should have started with a higher dosis 5mg? She says she feels fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, blood pressure medications like Concor and Higroton might require 3 to 7 days until they will give a visible improvement. Her blood pressure of 150/63 looks fine to me. It should continue being within these parameters or less, without getting increased. Give more time, and keep monitoring her blood pressure (BP) and record the results.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
