What Causes Increased Blood Pressure And Severe Headache?

My father is 82. He forgot to take his BP medication this morning and his BP went up to 165/115 with a severe headache. He took his BP meds and his head feels better but the headache isn t completely gone. I want to take him to the ER, for fear of him having a stroke, but he s being stubborn. What can I say to convince him?

Hello. Good day. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Praveen and I will be answering your query today.
Please tell him that your trip to the ER is to recheck his blood pressure and all other vitals including a routine neurological assessment only. Please tell him that headache precedes stroke in many patients but that is not an absolute condition and he needs evaluation in view of his age and comorbidities. I hope you manage to convince him but I also hope he is fit as always and be back home soon. Please ensure adherence to meds always.
Wishing him good health.
Warm regards.
