Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my blood pressure on Monday was 120/68 and pulse was 60. My usual workout is to jog 4+ miles, then sprint a lap/walk a lap, alternatively, for another mile. My 67 year old body tolerates the regimen, but should I be pushing myself pushing myself so hard? Running, hiking and hard exercise function as my stress reduction program but I am actually about 20 lbs. lighter and 2 inches shorter than when I served in the USMC in my early 20 s. Is that healthy?
The very fact that you tolerate your workout so well at 67 means that you are in good health. With age some loss of muscle mass can cause weight loss and a reduction in spine height because of vertebralosteoporosis can explain decreased height. You should consume more proteins and take Calcium supplement.
