What Causes Increased Heart Beats With Autism And ADHD?

My da daughter is 11with Autism. Her heart rate seems to be very fast all yhe time. Is this normal? She also has ADHA and takes Focilan 20mg. Could that also be the reason her heart seems to beat so fast? She has been on the med for 4years with little to no side effect. Just an increase and decrease in her eatting habits.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that the increased heart rate is related to Focalin adverse effects.

You should know that this drug stimulates the central nervous system, leading to increased heart rate.

So, in my opinion, there is nothing to worry about!

Anyway, a periodic checkup with resting ECG every year would help exclude other possible disorders.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
