What Causes Increased Pain In Left Side Of Spine Post Spinal Fusion Fixation?
Hello, I am a 44 year old retired Police Officer, Disability Retirement. I have had 2 neck surgeries, the most recent being a spinal fusion with fixation, C-3 - C-7 has been stabilized with 2 titanium rods and screws. I have continued to have constant pain since the surgeries, but for the last four days I have had an increase in pain on the left rear side around the C-3 to C-4 levels, the pain continues to intensify daily and I am having problems with my arms and hands going numb for long periods of time. I am getting seriously concerned that something major is wrong..
Your symptoms could be related to a possible bulging disc in another region or a dislocation of the rods or screws from their primary position. I recommend consulting as soon as possible with your spinal surgeon and performing a spine X-ray study or CT scan if possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
