What Causes Increased Sensitivity In The Tongue While On Adderall?

Yes, I ve been on Adderall for approximately 3 months for ADHD 15 mg 2X/day. I am a 57 year old woman. My tongue has been sensitive for the past couple of weeks (it s a bit stingy). I m in good shape and my BMI is 19.5 and I exercise about 10 hours aerobic/week. My blood pressure tends to run on the low side 110/70 or so. I don t drink alcohol or smoke and eat a healthy diet. However, I do have ADHD and the Adderall (generic form) is really helping me to feel calmer and to be able to focus better. I m concerned, however, that the medication may be causing this side effect. Please let me know if this is a possibility. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Adderall is very less likely causing this problem. You are 57 years old and been diagnosed as having ADHD. I would not recommend starting Adderall at this age because it can give your more side effects than calm effects.

ADHD is usually diagnosed in childhood which slowly wanes during adulthood and if it persists it becomes ADD or adult deficit disorder. If you want to continue treatment for your symptoms, I recommend starting Atomoxetine over Adderall. Please get opinion on this medicine from your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prashant Gohil
