General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from increased tiredness, weight gain and fluid retention for almost a year. You do not have diabetes. Since you have gained weight and are also suffering from fluid retention, you should limit the amount of salt intake, avoid salty food and snacks. Do regular walking in the morning and evening and avoid sedentary lifestyle.

Keep your legs on a stool while sitting or on a pillow when on bed to stay comfortable. You should take food rich in iron and minerals. Fluid retention is indicative of venous insufficiency, kidney disease, heart failure, anemia, thyroid dysfunction, poor general health condition. Get clinically examined by a GP, get CBC, urinalysis (R/E and C/S), T3 T4 TSH, lipid profile, cardiac and kidney function tests done.

Your treating doctor may want you to do imaging tests also. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. You can take naproxen or acetaminophen, one stat after food to reduce pain, inflammation and swelling. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
