What Causes Increasing Pain On The Right Heel Of My Foot?

Hello, The last few days I noticed increasing pain on the right heel of my foot. Today, crossing a street and during a fast walk, the pain stopped me dead in the street. I then began limping. It was iced and elevated for a half hour. Now, I am noticing an indentation - below the ankle. What is happening? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Heel pain is usually caused by repetitive stress and pounding of the heel. Plantar fasciitis, or inflammation of the plantar fascia.

You have to see a doctor if you have severe pain and swelling near your heel. Inability to bend your foot downward, rise on your toes or walk normally. Heel pain with fever, numbness or tingling in your heel.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
