What Causes Indentation After Lung Removel?

my 82 year old father had a lung removed last year with lung cancer. He is now complaining of an indentation where the lung was removed. He did not require any radiotherapy as a result of the lung being removed. What would the indentation be caused by.

it because his lung is removed and the lung filled with air supports the chest shape. It is a consequence of the surgery one has to deal with . Hope this helps
