What Causes Indentation On Buttocks With History Of Pain In Hip And Leg?

Sorry I was under the impression that thiswas free. Unfortunately, I don t have the money. ...thanks anyway Hi I have had a painful hip and leg for some time and just recently noticed that I have a large sunk in area on my hip/buttock area when I push in feels like its directly towards my hip joint It s not like this on my other hip buttock area. Could you please please tell me your ideas on this ? I have Lupus and other than painful joints, I have NEVER seen anything like this on my body. The skin on this area looks odd almost like its drawn inward. Help ! I don t see my rheumatologist again for a couple of months but I d like to know another doctor s opinion. Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

There is a normal hollow over upper buttocks, between front and back. This is the hollow between front and back group of muscles. You might be referring to this. But this we expect to be symmetrical on both sides when standing erect. If there is asymmetry, kindly show to your doctor to rule out pathological depressions there (gluteal retractions).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
