What Causes Indentation On The Right Knee?

My right leg about 2/3inches above my knee appears to go in, I run regularly but never suffered any injuries, although a few months ago my knee swelled , painful to bend and was hot to touch. After icing and elevating my knee did improve. I m curious to know what has caused this dent around my quads. What can I do to improve the look of my leg?
