What Causes Indigestion And Acid Reflux?

hello I seem to get indigestion every day after having in the morning 2 cups coffee breakfast and lunch no matter what I eat at lunch salad with oil and vinegar or a sandwich or yogurt. Up until recently within a 2 week time I have stopped smoking and drinking wine in the evening....I would usually have 2 tums and then an acid reducer to stop this feeling before making dinner. Since I have stopped smoking I feel much better and I have had these symptoms for some time....but the heartburn seems to be getting worse

Hello,

If heartburn problem is not relieved by the above measures, check for H. Pylori infection. H. Pylori bacteria can reside in the acid medium of the stomach and are responsible for hyperacidity in may of patients. You can also start a treatment regimen without testing for it. It includes omeprazole plus clarithromycin and amoxicillin twelve hourly for 14 days. It has a cure rate of 90-95%. However, these are prescription medications. So you have to consult the surgeon first.
