What Causes Infection On Tonsils And Difficulty In Swallowing?

I am 36 years old. I have had strep throat numerous times when I was young, but I have not had it for the past ten years. Recently, I got an infection on my tonsils that are white spots. It hurts to swallow. Before I even took azithromycin, my face started getting flushed and puffy. Now, my face is very swollen. It's been two days. Is there anything I need to be concerned about? I am allergic to penicillin, amoxycillin, erthromycin, and sulfa drugs.
