What Causes Inflamed And Itchy Red Bumps Behind The Knees?

For a little more than two weeks, I have had a linear group of red, itchy bumps just above the back of both my knees. Inflammation and more itching occurs when I scratch the area. I have been applying topical steroid ointments, but the condition still hasn t gone away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms can be related to many dermatological conditions. One of the common conditions can be dermatitis herpetiformis. Dermatitis herpetiformis is a burning and itchy skin condition that causes clusters of small blisters and bumps. It is caused by intolerance of the body to gluten and can only be prevented by avoiding the gluten. I suggest to consult your physician to do the examination to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
