What Causes Inflamed Gums When Having Braces?

I am 14 and have braces. My gums are extremely inflamed and are covering parts of the brace which is scaring me a bit. I am supposed to be getting my braces off tomorrow but I don't know whether they will if they can't get the bracket. What should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain inflammation of the gums while wearing orthodontic braces to correct the misaligned teeth is a commonly seen condition and it occurs commonly due to difficulty in maintaining a good oral hygiene as it becomes tricky and difficult to brush through the braces and properly remove deposits from the teeth leading to inflammation of the gums due to bacterial infection..

In your case if seems to be severe gum infection as the gums have grown over the braces but you need not to worry as if the duration of placement of the braces is completed and the teeth are aligned then the braces will be removed by numbing the gums by applying numbing gel over the braces and also they can gently remove the overgrown portions of the gums to ease in removal of braces and minimize gum trauma..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
