What Causes Inflammation And Chronic Itching On The Anus?

For the past three days, my anus has been incredibly itchy, as if by a bug bite. My pubic region is less so, but still itches some (could just be in need of trimming, there). There are no visible bumps, sores, or any obvious physical signs, except that the anus is slightly enflamed. I have not been sexually active in a few months, and I shower every other day, thoroughly.

Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Itching at the anus and the pubic area with the history of inactive sex life and regular showering with thorough cleaning can be due to the following reasons:
Sweat accumulation causing sort of dermatitis.
Intestinal infection or bacterial imbalance can cause similar problems.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get a proper examination done by a General Surgeon for proper clinical diagnosis.
Clean with plain water 2-3 times a day and dry out the area with hair dryer.
Apply Liquid Povidone Iodine to kill the local overgrowth of bacteria and keep the area sterile.
If intestinal or local infection is suspected, get a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole.
Use loose clothing and underwear.
Avoid hot and humid atmosphere.
Take an antihistamine to control the itching.
