General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This burning sensation may be due to neuropathy. This is abnormal sensations due to abnormal nerve structure or function of nerves in a particular area.

It can present with burning, sticking, numbness, tingling sharp pain etc

It may be temporary or permanent.

There are different possible causes such as: (1)trauma
(2)infections eg shingles
(3)diabetes
(4)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)liver or kidney disease
(7)hormonal disease
(8)idiopathic- cause is not known

By history , examination and possibly bloods, your doctor may be able to determine the cause and treat you appropriately.

I hope this helps
