Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Inflammation Over The Bridge Of Nose After Wearing Sunglasses?
The bridge of my nose gets inflamed from my sunglasses resting on it no matter where a pair might sit on my nose--high up or lower down. I think I m allergic to the frame material. Is there any type of pad I can line the frame with to prevent this from happening?
Sunglasses frames are made up of different materials that can react with your skin especially when you are allergic to any material. Sometimes the sweat and the dead skin gets accumulated in the tiny pores of the frames and can lead to bacterial growth. This later can release toxins and can cause inflammation of the surrounding skin. I suggest you to clean your glasses periodically and also don't use frame with materials you are allergic too.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saurabh Mittal, Ophthalmologist
