What Causes Insomnia After Having Victoza Injection?
I have been having insomnia for over a week since I ve been injecting Victoza - I usually take before dinner at 7pm. I take zolpidem 12.5 at bedtime but has not helped since I started victoza. What usually causes the sleeplessness is the peripheral neuropathy in my legs. (diagnosed in 1991 as hereditary - runs on my mothers side) Lately it has developed into pain it night. My Doctor prescribed Dramadol for the night pain but I see 1 of its side effects is also trouble sleeping. I m worn out - don t know what to do next?
I read your question and I understand your concern.
If you have pain due to a confirmed neuropathy I don't think you are taking the specific treatment for it. The first choice drugs for neuropathic pain are either anti-epileptics like Pregabalin, Gabapentin or tricyclic antidepressants like Amitriptilyne, Duloxetine. Opioids like Dramadol are used but generally as a second line drug. The recommended drugs are prescription ones though so you should discuss their use with your doctor.
I hope to have been of help.
