What Causes Insomnia And Anxiety Despite Taking Lamictal And Lithium?
I have tried many drugs such as Seroquel, Doxipen Risperdol and others that cause Wrestless leg syndrome. Me Dr. is considering Latuda, I am Bi Polar, but having a lot of problems sleeping and terriable anxiety. already take Lithium 450 mg 2 times daily and Lamictal 50mg I da. , Still I sleep only 2-3 hrs daily. Anxiety is taking my Life from me. Please Help Me if you can. Thank you , Dianne Brady
I can understand your concern. Antipsychotics are known to cause restless legs in some individuals because of parkinson's like side effects. You have taken Seroquel and Risperidone and this could be the reason for restless legs. Lithium is also known to cause similar symptoms. For persistent sleep problems an good benzodiazepine drug like Clonazepam, Lorazepam or Diazepam can help. These drugs will help to normalise the sleep pattern and should help in reducing the restless legs also.
If symptoms doesn't improve then drugs like Ropinirol can be used. The drug helps a lot in restless legs and will improve your symptoms. Please consult a psychiatrist for proper evaluation again and ask for prescription of these drugs.
