What Causes Insomnia?

I have a problem sleeping i am sure it is due to all the tragedy's that has happened in my life..example,my grandson (first born) was brutally beaten to death, when we returned home and discovered his lifeless body I being grandma started C.P.R to no avail he was gone, one more example I found my boy friend dead on the living room floor when I awoke the next morning..How do I put this honourably bad image out of my mind.so that i can get a peaceful night sleep

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have severe insomnia. You lost your grandson in front of you and also found your boyfriend dead. Now you have these bad images in your mind. As these traumas are significant life traumas and this has probably cause significant stress to you resulting in post traumatic stress disorder. The problem of insomnia is due to PTSD. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for treatment. As insomnia is main presenting complaint so medicines like Paroxetine, Sertraline etc can help you. These medicines will help to reduce anxiety and help in sleep also. Psychotherapy will also help to reduce the anxiety and insomnia.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
