What Causes Intense Hip Pain In The Elderly?

I had frozen shoulders 10 years ago and now if I walk more the 3 blocks I have extreme pain in the hips. VA has taking x-rays twice in last 5 years and the best they can come up with is old age(63) When the pain gets bad I can stop and pain subsides or if I set down it goes away completely. Is there bursa sacs in the hip joint?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, there are sacs in this area as well.

If the x rays have not given much information then you may need to consider more defined imaging such as MRI.

This would give information on the bones, sacs, nerves, tendons and any other structures in the area whereas the x ray only provides information on the bones mainly.

An orthopedic specialist may be the best person to assess and treat you.

I hope this helps
