What Causes Intense Lower Back Pain Despite Taking Morphine While Having Spondylosis?

Hi I m Michele I had cervical disc antrophy C6 C7in 2014 with fair result told I have spondylosis and DDD developed severe lumbar pain in July 2015 MRI showed further 2 disc bulges and degeneration of coxsis but told don t need surgery awaiting pain management been prescribed Morphine still in immensr pain like a weight in lower back pains in left leg unable to walk unaided due to pain and weakness EMG apparently normal but having spasms in buttocks and leg muscles very anxioius in chronic pain please help..

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
DDD is a progressive condition,where pain is from disc itself & pressure on nerve roots emerging from vertebral canal near the disc. The irritated muscles supplied by these nerves cause constant pain. specially when no physiotherapy/ physical therapy is applied (to make surrounding muscles stronger & can support the damaged discs.. thus reducing the symptoms.)
Just pain relif is not an answer to the problem. Improvement of the harm made / prevention of further damage to discs makes difference.That's why morphine like drug also does not control the increasing pain you have.
* I would suggest reassessment of disc damage.. addition of physiotherapy, physical therapy if possible Or spinal surgery to relive cause of pain.
