I am 42 years old male suffering for severe headache in the right side, just above the eyes. The pain starts 3-4 hours after meals. Especially, during night, around 2 pm, the intense pain makes me wake up from the sleep and I feel like going to pass my bowels. After passing of bowels, the pain subsides. Again around same kind of pain starts and again after passing bowels, the pain subsides. This has been happening to me for the last more than 10 years and particularly during change of season. It lasts for 7 to 15 days. Rest of the year I am ok. Kindly advise.
It looks to me like you are suffering from a headache type called as trigeminal cephalgia. These headaches are seasonal and occur in clusters. These can be treated with simple medications and oxygen therapy. Other possibilities are supraorbital neuralgia (pain from the nerves above the head) which can be again treated with medications.
I personally feel you need you need to see a neurologist for a detailed evaluation. If required scans like MRI could be of help to exclude other causes.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shiva Kumar R., Neurologist
