What Causes Intense Pain And Swelling In Right Wrist?
My wife s wrist is killing her, she can t move it at all without intense pain . She just woke up and the pain was there, no trauma , no fall. Her wrist is swollen and slightly red. We went to ER and all tests were negative . They put her on pain meds , that s it. They told to see a hand specialist . The pain started in her right wrist and go up to her elbow. The pain in her wrist is on the top, not that mush under the wrist. On a scale of one to 10, it a 9. Any ideas what it could be?.

Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like osteoarthritis , rheumatoid arthritis , carpal tunnel syndrome , ganglion cysts or kienbock's disease . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically , order CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory physical therapy and light stretching exercises or muscle relaxant or recommend surgery .
