What Causes Intense Pain In Left Knee?

I have intense pain above my left knee and below the back of my left knee. Have no apparent injury and this started as a tightening and progressed into pain within 2 - 3 hours. It is very painful and I am unable to put any weight on it. Do you have any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It could be due to a progressive condition like arthritis which could be presenting with symptoms of pain now. I would recommend an xray of the knee along with an MRI of the knee jount as well.

Best wishes.
