What Causes Intense Pain In The Hip Radiating Towards Shoulder And Wrist?

Im 55 yr old male. I have Type 1 Diabetes for 5 yrs. I am 6 2 200 lbs. About 6 weeks ago I started to have hip pain. Didnt think much of it thought I probably over did it and was sore. The pain has moved into my shoulders and wirst and hands. The pain is worse in the morning then at night. Advil helps. I have seen the doctor He took blood. The results showed I am mildly anemic and my CRP was high. He told me he did not know why and said to retest in 3 weeks. Well its been 3 weeks my pain has not changed maybe has gotten a little worse. What could be causing this? And what can I do? My job requires phsyical labor.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic pain-like prolapsed disc or nerve compression.
As first line management you can take drugs like gabapentin for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
