What Causes Intense Pain In The Neck Radiating Towards Waist In The Elderly?
My mother is 75yr old she is in great pain from her neck to her waist. She says it hurts to breathe, not lungs but under her breast in the rib area. She has a tear in her shoulder we are addressing next week chest exray came out clear. She has had nerves burned in her neck and back,but is still in so much pain. Don t know where to turn. Any suggestions appreciated.

Spine related problems like prolapsed disc and subsequent nerve compression is a possibility. Consult a neurologist and get evaluated. An MRI spine is required for further assessment. As a first line management drugs like gabapentin can be tried.
