What Causes Intense Right Sided Chest Pain While Having Aortic Stenosis?

I have been diagnosed with severe aortic stenois and am waiting to see a cardiovascular surgeon. I am having a burning type of pain to the central and righe side of the front of my chest which radiates through to under my shoulder blade. What could it be?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion, it seems more due to muscle spasm.
But better to get done
1. ECG
2. Chest x-ray.
ECG is needed to rule out cardiac cause.
Chest x-ray is needed to rule out causes for pleurisy (inflammation of pleura). Pleurisy can cause stabbing like chest pain. Possible causes are pneumonia, tuberculosis and pleural effusion.
So, if both of the above tests are normal, then no need to worry much.
You are having mostly muscle spasm and associated pain. So take a good painkiller and muscle relaxant. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Apply warm water pad on the affected site.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
