What Causes Intense Right Sided Pain Between The Armpit And Waist Caused By Excessive Cough?
My 61 year old heavy smoking husband just had sharp pains on his right side mid way between his arm pit and waist line. This was after he had a pretty serious cough attack..what could this be.. he was thinking he pulled a muscle or something..after about 3 to 5 minutes the pain stopped

Muscle pulls are much localized. If the pain is entirely outside of the chest and you can feel that it is a sore muscle that's about it. On the other hand, chronic cough in a smoker is one of the old-time seven warning signs of cancer.
