General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

As per your description I put provisional diagnosis of metrorrhoea.
The treatment you have been given is frequently used as first choice.
However if you do not have improvement in symptoms then you can use oral contraceptive pills in cycles of 21 days f/b break of 7 days. Try it for 2-3 cycle as per your gynecologists advice as it is prescription drug.
Also get USG abdomen done to rule out any pathology.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr. Hiren
