What Causes Inter Menstrual Vaginal Bleeding?

I just got off my period 2 weeks ago, and thought I had started again this past Monday because when I went to the bathroom there was blood in the toilet after I peed. I wiped and and i some on the toilet paper also. I put on a pad and went to change it later and nothing was on the pad. I peed again and had a toilet full of blood again. This has went on since Monday. I had intercourse last night and it was not painful but again my husband had blood on him. I do have a different odor that I have recently noticed and I shower twice a day. What could this be? I am 41 years old.

Hello,

Bleeding between periods can be caused by different causes from just hormonal changes to structural problems and infections.

It is important for you to see your doctor and have a vaginal examination and maybe the doctor according to the findings in examination will ask for tests to rule out infection if secretions have odor (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas), the doctor may ask for a pap smear to rule out problems with changes in the cervix if you have not had one in the last 1-2 years and also may ask a vaginal ultrasound to check the endometrial thickness (thickness of the inner layer of the uterus for hypertrophy or cancer).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
