What Causes Intermittent Abdominal Pain Inspite Of Taking Diovan And Metformin?
Hello doctor, went to the GI last week with dull upper and sometimes lower dull on and off abdominal aches for the past 3 months ( not really pain but dull aches ) they come and go . I am taking Diovan ( 2 years recent increase ) , metformin ( 1 year ) and jolivette ( 2 years).Had a pelvic sonogram and blood work all normal no nausea or diarrhea. Mild constipation has improved with probiotics over the last week. Some heartburn comes and goes.Doc wants to check for galstones, I am nervous, do you think they can be the cause? or possibly the metformin or other digestive disorder? I have abdominal sonogram on wed, just want some more insight to calm my nerves as I fear surgery a great deal.THANK YOU!
the pain you are describing doesn't sound necessarily typical for galstones. It makes sense to do the ultrasound to rule out the possibility though. It can be a sideeffect of the metformin so once galstones are ruled out i'd recommend talking with your doctor about a pause to see if the pain improves. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
