What Causes Intermittent Bouts Of Extreme Weakness In Elderly?

My mother 98 year old has intermittent (every few days) bouts of extreme weakness. She runs to bathroom 5 times per hr during episode. It usually resolves itself in 1-2 hours. Her cardiac pacemaker was just checked out, blood is fine for her age ( although gfr is slightly below normal)

Hello,

You should control the blood sugar also because this episodes may be related to hypoglycemia. Being fatigued and weak at this age is somewhat normal.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
