What Causes Intermittent Buzzing Sounds Coming From Chest While Suffering From Cold?

I am a 75 year old relative healthy & active woman who has never been on medication in her life. This past Wednesday, I became zapped (thought I was catching a cold), and stayed in bed all day until Saturday because I had no energy. I was out of bed practically all day Sunday, but ate no dinner. When I finally get in bed last night, I could hear a mild but an off-and-on buzzing sound coming from my chest. Could that be an early sign of pneumonia? I plan to go to my Urgent Care Clinic first thing in the morning. I can breathe just fine; have just a faint wheezing. I want to try to nip this in the bud if I can. Can you help me? Thank you, Marlene Daniels SHAME ON YOU!!!! I WILL WAIT TIL I GO TO THE URGENT CARE CLINIC IN THE MORNING. I WON T BE CHARGED. I M NOT FEELING WELL, AND YOU HAVE PUT ME AT YOUR MERCY! WHAT A WAISTE OF MY TIME, EMOTIONS AND ENERGY!!!!!!SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain as you have symptoms of cold mild wheezing can be due to accumulation of phlegm..
The other causes of wheezing can be allergic reaction, bronchitis, lung infection etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise investigations like chest x ray to rule out the exact cause of wheezing and treatment
can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take a short course of antibiotics like Levofloxacin or Cephalexin, take mucolytics like Ambroxol, decongestants like Phenylephrine, do warm compresses over chest and steam inhalations..
Take a soft diet and avoid chilled foods..
Sip on warm water throughout the day,,
Chew Vitamin C pellets..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
